The 'Eight' refers to location: the eighth floor of the downtown department store The Bay, overlooking downtown. The bustling lunchtime spot is a modern update of the department store restaurant. Part cafeteria, part tea room, it has menus that are as casual as the decor: no-fuss quiches, egg-and-tuna sarnies and cheesy lasagne that puts frozen counterparts in their place. After hours, it becomes a cooking school where celebrity chefs conduct classes for amateurs and corporate clients.
