Cabbies always know where to find good food on the go and they can often be found here, on this up-and-coming stretch of Dundas West, along with young families and other fans. This new, expanded location is just across the street from the 1960s original, but the joe is the same. The house blend is dark and delicious - and about one third the cost of a Starbucks creation. Tables are laden with homey fodder: meaty stews, cheesy lasagnes and filling soups. Don't miss the rich custard tarts from the Portuguese bakery Caldense: the common man's crème brûlée in a soft pastry shell.
