The division between Little Italy and Little Portugal is nebulous. But Phil's (formerly Dipamo's Barbeque) clearly occupies the latter. Though the plattered chicken and ribs reference the American South, the experience aligns itself with the churrasquerías of neighbouring Ossington, Dovercourt and Dundas. The dining room is no-frills, but the cool jazz soundtrack is a nice touch. Dishes burst with flavour, particularly the beef brisket, stewed in its own juices and served with barbecued beans.
