Countrified trendiness is the idea at this western-themed watering hole, which features Sunday night barn dances and a bluegrass brunch. Settle into a barrel-shaped bar stool for live music (most nights) and tasty inexpensive grub.

This place should be cross-listed under music venues, and come highly recommended. Sunday nights at the Dakota, usually featuring local hard-rock country blues band The Beauties (unless they are on tour), are one of the best loved events in town. For just a $7 cover, starting after 10pm and going until slightly after 2am, you get three sets of amazing music, often, but not always, featuring special guests from Toronto's thriving indie music scene. Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene or Serena Ryder have appeared at least once since 2011 began.
Hint: sets 2 and 3 are usually the most raucous, but you might have trouble getting in if you wait til 10:30 to show up, unless you come super later, eg. after midnight.
