Elgin & Winter Garden Theatre Centre review

Billed as the last operating double-decker theatre in the world, this complex is also famous for its beauty. The two theatres have been painstakingly restored to their original luxury: the Elgin was readorned in ruby fabric and gilt, while the botanical fantasy of the Winter Garden's hand-painted walls was enhanced by thousands of leafy beech branches hung from the ceiling. A tour shows off both of the theatres, the lobbies and an exhibit of vaudeville-era scenery.
