Buddies in Bad Times Theatre review

North America's largest queer theatre (call it gay and lesbian at your peril) dates back to 1979 and is a focal point for the gay community. Its heyday was the 1980s, when its then artistic director Sky Gilbert made it home to grungy, postmodern gay-themed plays that had edge but insufficient audience appeal. After a few years in the artistic wilderness of gay lowbrow fare, the company has changed its focus, offering risk-taking theatre that is straight, gay and in-between. There's a small cabaret theatre too.
