Angell was one of the first galleries on West Queen West, which makes the flamboyant proprietor, Jamie Angell, something of an elder statesman on the scene. Angell has mentored rising talent such as Kim Dorland, who paints wild, goofy clichés of cattlemen and pin-up girls, and Kristine Moran, whose enamel paintings of cars flying through buildings sell out faster than she can paint them. Also look for Jakub Dolejs' photographs; mounted on painted backdrops, they challenge the veracity of the photographic image.
