A Toronto legend, the rough-and-ready Horseshoe has been serving up pints and kick-ass tunes since 1947. It has had colourful incarnations as a country and punk bar, and now it books rock and roots acts. In the middle of Queen Street's trendy strip, the unpretentious 'Shoe keeps its feet firmly on the ground. It can hold 520 people, and has regularly featured such major acts as Wilco and Los Lobos; it even hosted a secret Stones gig in 1997. The no-cover Tuesday New Music nights show up-and-coming bands from across Canada and abroad.
