The main event comes every July with the Biarritz Surf Festival, when hopefuls from all over the world convene in search of big waves and bigger glory. Due to its location, Biarritz stakes a claim to a mix of Spanish, Basque and French festivals. Those to look out for include an artistic street festival (23-28 May) and fireworks evenings on the Grand Plage, which is held throughout the balmy months of July and August.
