Bruges’ grandeur permeates many of its more upmarket hotels. The 18th-century Pandhotel (Pandreitje 16, 050 340 666, www.pandhotel.com €150-€170) is an impressive 24-room mansion but, thanks to the family owners, it manages to avoid stuffiness. The walls are lined with restored wood panels and mouldings, with added modern touches like skylights and copper fittings; some rooms overlook the cathedral. Given its overall splendour and the central location, De Tassche (Oude Burg 11, 050 330 319, www.tassche.com, €70-€110) is reasonably priced. The 17th-century building has been given warm, modern interiors and some guest rooms have garret-style sloping beamed ceilings. Fevery (Collaert Mansionstraat 3, 050 331 269, www.hotelfevery.be, €60-€80) is a child-friendly hotel in a family home in a quiet corner of the city. Also at the budget end is Lut and Bruno Setola’s B&B (Sint-wlburgastraat 12, 050 334 977, €60-€70, www.bedand breakfast-bruges.com), located in a 16th-century house.
