Bruges is a great place for live music. From 22 July to 5 August 2006, leading Belgian musicians take part in a festival dedicated this year to ‘Venice and Mozart’; there are also organ and baroque music competitions. See www.musica-antiqua.com for details. The 19th Bruges Festival (10-12 Nov 2006, www.rembetika.org) should see some of the biggest names in world music. In December, Bruges organises a major Christmas market and ice rink.
