Transport

The taxis and remises (mini cabs) are so cheap right now that you can rely on these only - let your hotel recommend radio taxi companies. It's best to avoid hailing cabs on the street, particularly if travelling alone at night. The Subte (underground railway) is not extensive but is fast and the zillions of colectivos (public buses) are a riot if you like a boneshaking trundle down cobbled back streets.
