Transport

It may be one of Africa's most important cities but Cape Town itself is relatively small and most of the attractions are crammed into the handful of kilometres that make up the City Bowl (the valley between Table Mountain and Table Bay). This is good news for visitors: the city can be explored on foot and there's no need to rely on the public transport network. For a ride (R20) from the City Centre to the Waterfront, phone Rikki's Intercity (+27214234888) or, if you dare, hop aboard the main local form of transport, the minibus taxi, where you'll see a quirky side of Cape Town no tourist brochure could ever hope to capture.
