A few affordable three-star hotels are found near Cornavin station, of which Hotel Edelweiss (place de la Navigation 2, www.manotel.com/edelweiss, 544 51 51, Sfr170-Sfr300) has character.

The classy Cornavin (Gare de Cornavin, www.fhotels.ch, 716 12 12, Sfr251-Sfr487) boasts, among its charms, the world’s largest pendulum clock. For style in the old town, stay at Hôtel Les Armures (rue du Puits-Saint-Pierre 1, www.hotel-les-armures.ch, 310 91 72, Sfr290-Sfr570). More minimalist and less expensive is feng shui-styled Hotel Jade (55 rue Rothschild, 544 38 38, www.manotel.com/jade, Sfr187-Sfr300).
