Hotels

If money’s no object, make a beeline for Gothenburg’s only five-star hotel, the Elite Plaza (Västra Hamngatan 3, 720 4000, www.elite.se, 1,395kr-2,925kr), or the luxury floor of the Riverton (Stora Badhusgatan 26, 750 1000, www.riverton.se, 1,395kr-2,465kr). The Gothia Towers (Mässans Gata 24, 750 8800, www.gothiatowers.com, 1,095kr-2,595kr) opposite Liseberg is the largest hotel in the Nordic countries, while, by contrast, Eggers Best Western (Drottningtorget, 333 4440, www.hoteleggers.se, 1,090kr-2,240kr) has a cosy old-world atmosphere. Modern, spacious First Hotel G (Nils Ericsonsplatsen 4, 637200, www.firsthotels.se/g, 996kr-2,896kr) opened in 2004 in an unbeatable location right on top of Centralstation. The Novotel Göteborg (Klippan 1, 720 2200, www.novotel.se, 940kr-1,890kr) is housed in a converted brewery by the harbour. Göteborgs Vandrarhem (Mölndalsvägen 23, 401050, www.goteborgsvandrarhem.se, from 180kr) is one of many central hostels.
