Hotels

Helsinki’s sense of design certainly extends to its hotels. Good weekend rates usually include breakfast and use of the hotel sauna. On Esplanadi the opulent Hotel Kamp (Pohjoisesplanadi 29, 576 111, www.hotelkamp.fi, €240-€410), built in 1887, exudes Old World elegance. In the area to the west of Esplanadi, the spectacular new Hotel Klaus K (Bulevardi 2, 020 770 4700, www.klausk.com, €195) is Helsinki’s first design hotel, inspired by the Finnish epic poem, Kalevala. Also close are the art nouveau Sokos Hotel Tourni (Yrjönkatu 26, 943 360, www.sokoshotel.fi, €96-€192), the national-romantic style Hotel Linna (Lönnrotinkatu 29, 010 344 4100, €180-€210) and the cosy Martta Hotel (Uudenmaankatu 24, 618 7400, www.marttahotelli.fi, €95-€155). The smart Hotel Grand Marina (Katajanokanlaituri 7, 16 661, www.scandic-hotels.com, €124-€356) occupies a converted warehouse overlooking Katajanokka Harbour. Hotel Arthur (Vuorikatu 19, 173 441, www.hotelarthur.fi, €73-€94) is a functional base in the heart of the city.
