The Jerez hotel scene has come alive recently and there are plenty of charming boutique options in the centre of town. Hotel Bellas Artes (Plaza del Arroyo 45, 956 348 430, www.hotelbellasartes.com, €86-€128) is a converted townhouse with cathedral views and rooms that make up for their small size with tastefully quirky decor. Considerably plainer in decor, but immaculate and very friendly is Hotel Casa Grande (Plaza de las Angustias 3, 956 345 070, www.casagrande.com.es, €75-€140), an excellent quality three-star with a huge roof terrace. For unabashed opulence and sleek, modern decor try Palacio Garvey (Plaza Rafael Rivero, Tornería 24, 956 326 700, www.sferahoteles.net, €136-€272) or go for a more traditional style at Hotel Jerez (Avenida Alcade Alcavo Domecq 35, 956 300 600, www.jerezhotel.com, €107-€161). For some real tranquillity located just outside the centre try five-star Hotel Villa Jerez (Avenida de la Cruz Roja 7, 956 153 100, www.villajerez.com, €193-€249), which is set in an Andalucían mansion with gardens, a pool and hangar-sized rooms. More affordable options include the two-star Hotel Ancla (Plaza del Mamelón 13, 956 321 297, www.helancla.com, €50-€100), which sits on a pretty but rather noisy square, and the one-star 19th-century Nuevo Hotel (C/Caballeros 23, 956 331 600, www.nuevohotel.com, €38-€70); when booking here ask for a balcony.
