In July and August the Ljubljana Festival (www.festival-lj.si) brings the city to life with concerts and street performers. On the anniversary of the birth of Slovenia’s greatest poet, France Preseren, the city’s libraries, museums and galleries join forces to host the annual Culture Day (28 Oct).
