Hotels

Marseille’s sleekest hotel is the Sofitel Palm Beach (200 corniche JF Kennedy, 04 91 16 19 00, www.sofitel.com, €265-€495), overlooking the Plage du Prado. Just down the road, most of the (slightly ageing) rooms at the Hotel Peron (119 corniche JF Kennedy, 04 91 31 01 41) have spectacular views. Fans of modern architecture won’t want to miss a stay at Hotel Le Corbusier, located in the architect’s Cité Radieuse (280 bd Michelet, 04 91 16 78 00, €50-€90). For lower budgets, the Vieux Port has the most options. Hotel Hermès (2 rue Bonneterie, 04 96 11 63 63, €47-€78) offers good value rooms and a rooftop sundeck just steps from the Vieux Port. Hôtel Alizé (35 quai des Belges, 04 91 33 66 97, www.alize-hotel.com, €63-€85) is spartan, but good value. Visit www.hotelmarseilles.com for others.
