Between Marseille and Cassis lie the dramatic rocky calanques, the Mediterranean equivalent of the fjords. Most can be reached only by foot or boat (services run from the Vieux Port and Cassis); the nearby calanques of Sormiou and Morgiou can be reached by footpaths from town.
