Transport

There’s an excellent local metro shuttle to the airport, and several residential suburbs from outside the GPO, Kenyatta Avenue. There are also regular buses, shared taxis and a plentiful supply of taxis. Share taxis are reasonably fast and reliable – Cross Road Travellers, Cross Road (+25420245377); DPS (Dubois Road, +25420210866). Matatus (shared minibus taxis) are cheap and plentiful but crowded and dangerous. The centre of town is small enough to walk around. Be very careful of your possessions if on foot or public transport and never walk around at night.

Nairobi Railway Station (Moi Avenue, +25420221211).
