In 2005 over 400,000 people turned out for Nantes carnival (26-29 Mar) to watch the floats, dancers and artists wind their way through the streets. The Musique Sur L'île festival celebrates its fifth anniversary in July 2006, with the theme Sucré Salé (sweet and salty). Bands, artists and singers will interpret this in whichever way they see fit both on the Ile Gloriette and in the city centre. Evening concerts are ticketed, but the rest is free.
