Restaurants & bars

Palma has excellent restaurants and bars, many of which lie just west of the Palau de l’Almudaina in Sa Llotja. Here, you’ll find tapas bars of all stripes that come and go, from the old-school Taberna La Bóveda (C/Passeig Sagrera 3, 971 714 863, closed Sun) to the bustling terrace of Xim’s Bodeguita (Plaça de la Llotja 3, 971 719 928).

The Santa Catalina district (west of the old city walls) has thoroughly cosmopolitan eateries, such as the all-American Diner (C/Sant Magí 23, 971 736 222) or the upmarket Italian Mangiafuoco (Plaça Vapor 4, 971 451 072, closed Tue). To the east of the bay, the maritime neighbourhood of Portixol has an increasingly sophisticated array of restaurants. One of the best is the small, bright Bar.Co (C/Vicari Joaquim Fuster 83, 971 248 685), with an Asian-influenced list of superb dishes. Nearby is S’Eixerit (C/Vicari Joaquim Fuster 73, 971 273 781), a cosily converted old house with excellent paella.
