Švandovo divadlo
By far the hippest theatre and performance space in the district, this historic place stages fresh conceptions of Czech and international work, from Killer Joe to modernised Shakespeare. Mishal Lang, has directed Havel’s The Beggar’s Opera here and this is the only theatre to employ English surtitles for performances in Czech. The centre’s stage talks series has hosted documentarian Albert Maysles, famous for his films on the Beatles and Rolling Stones, and Michael Nyman. Great lobby bar too.
