Originally known as a jazz hotel when it was built in 1930, the Alcron celebrates the heritage of Duke and Satchmo (who both passed through) with art deco motifs. It’s also kept up its reputation as one of the city’s first lux hotels and, off the lobby, has the finest seafood restaurant in the country. The higher up you go, the better the views, but the high ceilings and period appointments make every room a classic. Lobby jazz bar, concierge, gym and no-smoking floors.
