The most obvious hop is to Medulin and Premantura, at the southernmost tip of Istria. Pulapromet buses run almost hourly to Medulin (No.25) and Premantura (No.26), journey time about 30 minutes. Both are centres for windsurfing, (www.windsurfing.hr). Each has long stretches of beach and shallow water. Medulin's Bajeca has water slides for kids and there are taxi boats to nearby little islands. The major excursion from Pula is to the Brijuni Islands, the main one of which contains Tito's menagerie of safari animals. Boats go from Fazana, 7km (4.5 miles) north-west of Pula by hourly bus No.21.
