Seasonal Reykjavík

Most tourists visit between late spring and summer, but if you find a good fare to Iceland in winter, take it. The hot baths around town and the Blue Lagoon (www.bluelagoon.is) beg to be enjoyed in cold weather, and the Winter Lights Festival (23-26 Feb) is designed to cheer up a city coming out of three months of darkness, with cultural, shopping and sporting events. If you do show up in summer, join the tens of thousands that crowd downtown on 17 June, Iceland’s National Day, and again for Gay Pride and Culture Night in August. Check out www.tourist.reykjavik.is for more information on these and other festivals.
