Imperial Fora & Trajan’s Market

Note:Excavations and restoration work mean that timetables for opening and guided tours of this area can vary from week to week, and parts can be closed off temporarily. However, all the fora and much of Trajan’s market are visible from the pavement of via dei Fori Imperiali.

Excavations carried out in the Imperial Fora in the 1990s opened up massive amounts of archaeological space, but the work is far from over. The great hemicycle in the upper area of Trajan’s markets will become the Museo dei Fori Imperiali, a bells-and-whistles multimedia museum.
