The kitschy honeymoon capital of Niagara Falls can still enthrall a jaded visitor, and it is just over an hour's drive south from Toronto. Don a slicker and get up close to the mighty cascade on the Maid of the Mist boat ride to feel the roar of 200,000 cubic feet of water plunging 350 feet every second. After that, taste some fudge, visit a fright house or take your own plunge at Niagara's giant new casino, the Fallsview Casino Resort. Its 180,000 square feet house 3,000 slots and 150 table games, plus a theatre that attracts some big-name entertainment. Vegas North may be seen as debasing a natural wonder, yet it somehow feels fitting. Drive back to Toronto via the quaint Niagara-on-the-Lake, and make a stop or two along the well-marked Niagara wine trail. The rieslings are recommended.
