Hotels

There is nothing particularly fashionable about the accommodation in Verona, and hotels tend to be very traditional in style. In piazza delle Erbe you’ll find the charming Hotel Aurora (045 594 717, www.hotelaurora.biz, €130-€135), which is a family-run affair. The Hotel Antica Porta Leona (Corticella Leoni 3, 045 595 499, www.anticaportaleona.com, €140-€145) and the Hotel Bologna (piazzetta Scalette Rubiani 3, 045 800 6830, www.hotelbologna.vr.it, €80-€175) are also good value. For those who have some extra cash to splash out, the elegant Due Torri Hotel Baglioni (piazza Sant’Anastasia 4, 045 595 0444, www.duetorrihotelbaglioni.com, €435-€495) has in the past hosted both Beethoven and Goethe. Alternatively, at the other end of the spectrum, Campeggio Castel San Pietro (via Castel San Pietro 2, 045 592 037, www.campingcastelsanpietro.com, €6-€8 per plot; €6 per person) offers seasonal camping a 15-minute walk from the centre of Verona. CAV, the Verona hoteliers’ association (via Patuzzi 5, 045 800 9844), runs a free hotel reservations bureau.
