Although Vienna is not especially pricey, cheap accommodation is scarce. The cosy, gay-friendly Pension Wild (Langegasse 10, 406 5174, www.pension-wild.com, €45-€89) is a good option in the central 8th district. For a few euros more, stay bang in the centre at Pension Nossek (Graben 17, 533 7041, www.pension-nossek.at, €110) or the plush Pension Pertschy (Habsburgergasse 5, 534 490, www.pertschy.com, €97-€172).
