Time Out says

Though it's billed as a tribute to the great spaghetti Westerns of the '60s, 800 Bullets feels closer to '80s kids' adventure-fantasy movies: Take one disaffected child, toss him or her into a dangerous environment, he saves the day, roll credits. Here, young Carlos (Castro) bolts from his neglectful mother in search of a grandfather who claims to have once labored as Clint Eastwood's stunt double and now performs in a pathetic Wild West show for tourists. The goofy comedy completely loses its way in its third act, as director Álex de la Iglesia musters a wearying climax for his mild misfire.
