A veteran adman (Bruce Greenwood) awakens after a nervous breakdown, speaking only in slogans—a conceit that, such things having gone the way of jingles, already places Zack Bernbaum’s winsome, weak-kneed first feature a decade behind the times. At least this tepid satire can coast on the charms of its cast: As a single mom who takes in this marketing savant despite her ongoing troubles with her teenage daughter (or perhaps because his psychoses are easier to fix), Parker Posey mixes frenzied vulnerability with inner strength; Greenwood hints at deeper conflicts without cracking his sunny, tagline-spouting mask. But when it comes to the cultural critique, a little dab’ll do ya.
