A benign mix of culture-clash comedy and confrontational documentary, this shot-on-video performance piece is an art-damaged complement to Borat. Socially stunted, gas-huffing Swede Vincent (Aronson) mopeds around rural Scotland drumming up support for a “mobile disco,” which he claims will alleviate the locals’ loneliness. The Scots insist that he’s projecting; Laurin Federlein’s washed-out, eerily isolating compositions and Aronson’s heartachy folk ditties bear them out. If some measure of existential anguish is evoked, though, so is mild condescension.
