Laura (Wright) is a 34-year-old suburban housewife with a comfortable home, a solicitous husband and a son she loves—but her existence has become completely unbearable. Haunted by memories of her former life in New York City with an ex-fiancé (Pardue), Laura begins seeking out sex with random strangers in an apparent effort to recapture a lost passion for living. The movie’s muddy, overexposed look is tough on the eyes, but its unrelentingly bleak take on the land of supermarkets and car dealerships is not without its share of dark humor, and it thankfully eschews easy answers.Author: Joshua Land
