Time Out says

Blier's films are a continuing chronicle of the male psyche, getting to the parts even Howard Hawks didn't often reach. Arriving at a ski resort in search of a new steady and the home that goes with him, Huppert seizes on the local romantic (Lhermitte). The latter's best buddy (Coluche), a slob heading towards a middle-age of confirmed bachelorhood, is designated as her daytime minder, and is disarmed by her guilt-free desire for an affair. Appalled at the discovery of his own vulnerability, he finds himself agonisingly torn between male loyalties and the emotional crutch of an affair. As ever, Blier's script is out of the top drawer, and French comic Coluche, atypically cast, is excellent as the racked 'mec'. A simple storyline belies a thoughful film with more than a hint of Buñuel's wit.
