When documentarian Arnon Goldfinger cleaned out his recently deceased grandmother’s Tel Aviv apartment, he discovered some truly frightful skeletons in the family closet: His German-Jewish grandparents, who fled the Holocaust for Israel, maintained a long, strange friendship with a top Nazi official who had an unusual interest in Zionism. The Flat details his efforts to understand this unusual situation, and although the film suggests that his relatives may have maintained this odd friendship as a denial of their homeland’s betrayals, there’s only so deep Goldfinger can dig. After a while, he’s left unearthing nothing but fitfully fascinating speculation.

  • I don't know, it was never brought up. Repeat over and over, The End. The questions are asked, no-one wants to talk about it, and that my friends is the movie in a nut shell.
