If you're setting off from Vancouver to the wide open spaces of BC, this is an option. From Horseshoe Bay you catch the ferry to Nanaimo, Bowen Island and the Sunshine Coast. It is also the last stopping place before Squamish on the road to Whistler. You can catch a glimpse of the water and ferry activity from the motel, but you might have to stand on tippy toes to do it. Rooms are fine but basic, with en suite bathrooms and TVs. The staff are a bit indifferent and the hotel doesn't offer any services, but if you're catching an early ferry or you get in late, it'll do. You can grab a coffee on the nearby pier or a full breakfast at the Boathouse Restaurant at the marina.
