Raincity Grill was an original pioneer of Pacific Northwest cuisine and remains one of the city's best. Harry Kambolis - the owner of C Restaurant and Nu - deserves high praise for a long-standing commitment to local small-lot farmers and sustainable fisheries, which supply the seasonal menus. Arrive between 5pm and 6pm for the early-bird three-course tasting menu, or linger as the sun sets over English Bay while trying to put a dint in the list of a hundred or so regional wines by the glass. In spring and summer, the takeout window offers sandwiches and salads for gourmet picnics. The only let-down is the service, which can be insufferably snooty.
