Relatively new to live music, the 500-capacity Plaza has quickly become a prime destination for touring bands. Hype-laden indie acts can be found here several nights a week and the club also hosts a weekly showcase for local bands. A little too much of the venue's floor space is dedicated to an awkwardly situated central bar but an expansive balcony affords additional seating. Adorned in neon and chrome (and saddled with high beverage prices), the club doesn't boast much character but it consistently delivers the goods in terms of live music.
This upscale (read: dress code in effect) dance club drops everything from hip hop, R&B, top 40, dance techno and house music in an 8,000sq ft (740sq m) space complete with an oval bar and elevated DJ booth. The second level is more intimate, complete with leather armchairs and its own bar. DJs J-Swing and Flipout take the decks Wednesday for an electric trip through Brit pop, hip hop and current dancefloor hits.
