Off a gated cul-de-sac (there is a sign, but it's so high there's every chance you'll miss it), DD 724 is a design hotel in miniature. The bedrooms are stylishly understated in pale shades and dark wood, with contemporary artworks from the owner's collection dotted around; one has a little terrace. Bathrooms in pale travertine are tiny but super-modern with walk-in showers. Public spaces (and some bedrooms) are cramped, though, and the atmosphere isn't exactly warm. A recent annexe, DD 694, is located two minutes' walk away at Dorsoduro 694 and has three similarly stylish rooms.
