This collection of Ferrarese and Tuscan art was put together by industrialist Vittorio Cini, who created the Fondazione Cini on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. It's small but there are one or two gems, such as the unfinished Pontormo double Portrait of Two Friends (on the first floor), and Dosso Dossi's Allegorical Scene (on the second), a vivacious character study from the D'Este Palace in Ferrara. There are also some delicate, late-medieval ivories and a rare, 14th-century wedding chest decorated with chivalric scenes.
