This historic bar-osteria behind tack-filled Strada Nuova reopened in 2006, after painstaking restoration, with dynamic restaurateur and wine buff Alvise Ceccato at the helm. Popular around aperitivo time, it has also made a splash on the culinary front, with its unusual menu of revisited traditional dishes from the Veneto - like oca in onto (goose in its own fat) or freshwater lagoon fish done in saor. There is a large selection of cheeses and cured meats, a good pan-Italian wine list and an admirable programme of charity events.
