If you fancy messing about on the water without expending energy, contact Alfredo Zambon to experience life on board the Nuovo Trionfo, a traditional trabacolo built in 1926. The boat - a two-masted, 30-metre (98-foot) vessel once common on the Adriatic but now the only one of its kind left - has been beautifully restored by an association that aims to preserve and promote the traditional wooden boats of Venice. Year-round, and from April to October in particular, an extensive range of activities is offered in the lagoon for up to 30 people: from a cruise or a sailing excursion, to special events, dinners or tours of the main islands of the lagoon. A half-day tour on the trabacolo will set you back around €800, while the full-day experience costs €1,300.
