There’s a reason Vienna is known as the coffee centre of Europe: this city knows its stuff. The legend goes that a Viennese local grabbed the final bag of coffee beans left over by the Ottomans in 1683 and started serving it up, and whether that’s the whole truth or not, the proof is in the pudding when it comes to the quality here.  If you’re visiting Vienna, drinking coffee will be higher on your ‘to do’ list than any other city, not least because a lot of the time, the cafés are the attraction (some of them have UNESCO status, don’t you know). The traditional Kaffeehaus is to the Viennese what the pub is to the Brits, a social institution that transcends eating and drinking, and the cafés here are unmissable. Here are the best cafés in the Austrian capital.  RECOMMENDED:📍 The best things to do in Vienna💃🏻 The best nightlife spots in Vienna🏛️ Unmissable attractions in Vienna🏠 Vienna's best Airbnbs This article was recently updated by Susanne Garber, a writer based in Vienna. Sure, when you think of Vienna, the nightlife scene might not be the first thing to come to mind. Vienna is more commonly known for its, erm, morning scene, being Europe’s coffee capital n’ all. But let us tell you one thing: the Viennesse know their clubs as well as they know their coffee, and there’s a whole load of spots to party in the Austrian capital.  For starters, you can actually have both – some of Vienna’s coffee institutions serve up harder drinks once the sun goes down. But you’ll also find jazz nights, karaoke, art deco bars and all-night DJs here if you’re looking to dance into the early hours. Whatever you’re after, here are the best nightlife spots in Vienna right now.  RECOMMENDED:📍 The best things to do in Vienna🍸 The best bars in Vienna☕ The best cafés in Vienna🏠 Vienna's best Airbnbs This article was written by journalist Kate Jackson. • Museums

Compared to some of the big dogs in Europe (we’re looking at you, Paris, Rome and Berlin), Vienna can get a little overlooked. But mark our words, this city is criminally underrated. Vienna is home to, obviously, the best café culture around, but it’s also absolutely fantastic for culture.  Remember, the Austrian capital played a crucial role in developing practically every art form that has flourished in Europe. So it’s no surprise that the museums and galleries here are pretty much love letters to some of the world’s best artists, sculptors, painters, writers and more. Prepare to be inspired, and get lost in Vienna’s best museums. Enjoy.  RECOMMENDED:📍 The best things to do in Vienna💃🏻 The best nightlife spots in Vienna🏛️ Unmissable attractions in Vienna🏠 Vienna's best Airbnbs This article was written by Natalie Marchant, who spent a number of years in Vienna.
