Opened in 2007 at the new, glitzy Almeria Centar where Vukovarska meets Heinzelova, Fly Bar has a theme which is, not surprisingly, aeroplane-induced. The bartenders are in stewards' unis and there's a gaggle of perky stewardess hostesses to tempt you into just one more drink before take-off. DJs (Thursdays through Saturdays) are 'pilots'. To enter the VIP lounge, used for business meetings and under-the-radar encounters, you take a face scan. Expect to see Zagreb's smart young set gyrating to house and techno on Fridays and Saturdays, Croatian-style rock and folk-pop on Sundays. The decor of the two-floor bar (there's also a big terrace) is like a luxury airliner: orange leather seats and black cube tables. A chrome plane hangs from the ceiling and the music is funk, broken beats and house. Speciality cocktail? Bad Landing: absinthe, Triple Sec and Kahlua - ouch.
