Long considered a solid choice for Dalmatian seafood, this homely and popular venue consists of a street-level bar-restaurant featuring bare brickwork, avocado hues and a mezzanine mounted on metal pillars. The downstairs dining room couldn't be more different, with maritime trinkets and loud wall coverings bringing to mind the parlour of a nineteenth-century sea captain. Adriatic fish either grilled or baked weights in at around 360kn/kg; for a repast that's lighter on both stomach and wallet there's a good choice of quality risottos and seafood pastas in the 60kn-80kn bracket. The octopus-and-chickpea ragout (80kn), cooked with tomato and bits of smoky bacon fat, is an excellent winter dish.
