Locals get to vote for their most loved local venues in 15 cities around the world

A big celebration of small businesses is coming as Time Out, the global brand that inspires people to make the most of the city, opens voting for Love City 2018.

This year, Time Out Love City is launching in 15 cities around the world: returning to London, Paris, New York, Chicago, LA and Lisbon, and coming for the first time to Porto, San Francisco, Miami, Austin, Philadelphia, Melbourne, Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore. In each city, locals can vote in a variety of categories such as the most loved local restaurant, coffee place, music venue, park, culture spot, shop and many more.

Voting is open from 6March until 10 April 2018 and the winners will be revealed on 2 May.

Whether it is the dive bar with the most experimental cocktails, the music venue showcasing the next big thing or the hidden park in the middle of the city – locals have lots of love for those hidden gems in their city. They can now get behind them and vote for their favourite local, independent businesses to give them the recognition they deserve.

The awards honour the most loved venues in cities around the world, voted for by locals and are part of Time Out’s commitment to helping people discover the best of the city and support independents, while also offering local businesses a platform to gain recognition and fame. Over 500,000 votes for small, independent venues have been generated as part of the global Time Out Love City Awards across many cities worldwide since 2014 – proof of the power of local.

Past years’ winners report that they have seen higher footfall and sales, and new customers including visitors from around the world. Feeling appreciated as small business owners and a raised profile within the industry, as well as the local community, are other positives.
