CULTURE & COLLECTIONS

This First Fridays is in support of Reconciliation Week. Kick off the weekend with the new display Carrying Culture and launch into Guildhouse’s 2016 Collectons Project with artist Kate Kurucz. Plus, warm to the raw acoustics of singer, songwriter Kahl Wallis and enjoy live performances by acclaimed Yidaki player Jamie Goldsmith.

Here's what else you can expect on the night:

EXHIBITION GUIDED TOURS 5pm, 7pm
Celebrate Reconciliation Week with a tour of the new display Carrying Culture.

KAHL WALLIS from 5.30pm
Lead singer and songwriter for indie/alternative band The Medics, Kahl Wallis represents the Wuthathi and Lardil nations. Now a solo performer, Kahl has stripped back into raw acoustic mode to explore his song writing and cultural roots.

Kaurna Musician, Jamie Goldsmith, plays the Yidaki; a traditional instrument in Aboriginal culture

GUILDHOUSE COLLECTIONS PROJECT LAUNCH– 6pm
Join us as we launch the next Collections project with artist Kate Kurucz. Learn more about Kate’s delving into the Art Gallery’s collection and see where this has taken her

We are firing up Friday night at the Art Gallery by staying open after hours on the first Friday of every month. Hear great talks, unwind to live music and take in the latest exhibitions and displays.

Think of the Gallery as a launch pad for your weekend; have a bite to eat and something to drink at Art Gallery Food + Wine, browse in the Gallery Shop and immerse yourself in art and culture with an amazing mix of eclectic characters – then lose yourself in the city as you head off to other gigs, shows and events.
