"It's Perfectly Okay To Want To Kill Someone." By Marlee Mincher Opening

Marlee Mincher is an Atlanta-based ceramicist and multi-media artist. She is currently an artist in residence at Mudfire in Decatur. She previously studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and worked at Harvard University, the SMFA and Roswell Arts Center West. Her work deals with themes of memory and forgetting, impracticality, and impermanence. It's perfectly okay to want to kill someone. is a full-scale mixed-media installation of a section of Mincher’s childhood home. It is constructed from memory, without the aid of photographs or floorplans. The structure of the space is made from sliced, layered cardboard boxes and craft paper. These elements double as a sign of impermanence and as illogical construction material. The sturdiness of the construction and its clear intention confound their expected use.
